Opinions welcome...

Not like I need to be starting new socks, but I am dying to work on this pattern! Six Sox KAL is doing this one and I am thinking I'd like to use one of these yarns. Quite close in the colors that are incorporated, yet different. The one on the left is Fleece Artist "Mermaid" colorway; the one on the right is Socks that Rock in a "rare gems" colorway. The pattern is "Horcrux" by Susan Pierce Lawrence. Not sure that you can view the pic on the pattern well. Maybe I should have seen if I could find a page to direct you to...if so, I'll post it. Any preferences out there?

I think they would both look good, but I have a slight preference for the STR because of the additional color variation. It looks like a fairly simple knit pattern on the sock, so I think it could handle the additional colors without obscuring the pattern.

I'll have to pull out my Mermaid to see how different it is from yours, but maybe I can swatch mine up into the Horcrux and you can swatch up the STR Rare Gems and then you'll know!

But yeah, I love that Rare Gems you picked out.

I did them in a lighter color and the pattern showed quite well. It is one of the few patterns which should not get lost in the darker colors.

Pick which ever one is not going to pool too much

I am seriously considering the Horcrux pattern as well...started on a Charlene Schurch pattern from SKS (cable & moss stitch) in a gorgeous Claudias yarn - Pink Cloud. I am interested to see how you like the Horcrux pattern...I think that I need to do this one before July when we have the movie and book!

but like you, I really don't need to start another sock pattern right now when we should be getting the April STR shipment any time...
