A Knitting story...

So there I was, at the YMCA, ready to cancel my membership! I passed by one of the rooms where the Senior's were having a knitting session-I could see all the needles sweeping through the air...

Being my nosey self (and oh-so-obsessed with knitting), I struck up conversation with a couple of ladies as the session was letting out. They probably thought I was stalking them, since we were all leaving the building at the same time and I happened to be walking in the same direction. So I asked what they were working on, showed them my new Hedera's that were on my feet, blah, blah, blah...Their interest perked when I mentioned that if they were doing charity knitting, they should contact Coats and Clark for a yarn donation.

At any rate, we finally introduced ourselves (nice meeting you, Wendy and Jean...) and I showed Wendy my socks, she said, "Oh! I haven't knit socks in *ages*! I used to knit them for my boyfriends--every time I had a new boyfriend, they got a pair of argyle socks--that was the 'in' thing to do back then. I don't think I could even make them again--I don't know HOW I did that! But you know, in those days it was in and I was younger."

My gosh! Can you believe that? Notice the plural in "boyfriends"? ARGYLE SOCKS for your boyfriend? Unbelievable! Any of my friend's getting plain knit socks from me had better be pretty happy-I can't even phathom making ARGYLE socks for *anyone* but ME! (But, alas, I do not like argyle and shall not have a pair...**)

**though I understand it is a requirement to knit one for part of TKGA's Master program...that would be the only exception...
